Ed Collier wins last event of the season

The last event of the 2010 season for the Five County Bassmasters took place on the Roanoke River at Plymouth, NC. Ed Collier managed to take home the top spot with a five fish limit weighing 12.42 lbs. Collier targeted wood cover with soft plastics for his catch. The cold nights of late meant that an early bite was nearly impossible, but once the water warmed a bit the fish seemed to start to get a little more aggressive. Collier’s location, protected from wind by surrounding trees only needed some early sun shine to get things headed in the right direction for him. “Once the sun heated the water up a few degrees it really helped me. Once that happened all of my bites were aggressive and I never had to worry about a thrown hook -They ate it pretty good” said Collier.

Finishing in the second position was the team of Andy Evans and Joe Bass. Evans and Bass brought a five fish limit to the scales for a weight of 11.37 lbs and also took the lunker award for the event with a 4.07 lb catch. Evans stated that he and his partner used a combination of jigs and soft plastics for their catch.

Rounding out the top five positions were 3rd place Mike Brinchek with 9.01 lbs, 4th place Jeff Narron with 7.02 lbs and the team of Brett Latta and Randy Parker settled for 5th with 5.48lbs.
