Five County Bassmasters Wins Team Format – Club Members Make State Team
The 2011 NC B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Eastern Regional qualifying event was held on the Chowan River at Edenton, NC on May 20th and 21st. Eighteen different 6-man teams competed for prize money and bragging rights in the team format, while all 108 anglers were fighting for an individual position on the 2012 NC B.A.S.S. Federation Nation state team.
The Five County Bassmasters team of Brent Boyette, Jeff Narron, Randy Parker, Ed Collier, Tim Gardner, and Wayne Joyner won the team title with a total combined weight of 83.16 lbs. Five County Bassmasters members Andy Evans and Danny Hayes help make up the second place team, along with two members from Sandy Creek Bassmasters, and two members of the Gold Sand Bassmasters. The combined effort from these six individuals netted 78.53 lbs. The Hoke County Bassmasters held down the third spot with 70.88 lbs, while team “Reel ‘em In” took home the fourth spot with 67.96 lbs. Rounding out the top five positions was the Sandy Creek Bassmasters with 66.61 lbs.
Although the team format rewarded the clubs with prize money for their efforts, the largest award from the event was an honored spot on the 2012 NC B.A.S.S. Federation Nation state team. Only seven of the 108 competitors would fill these limited slots. Five County Bassmasters club members Jeff Narron (3rd Place Overall) and Brent Boyette (6th Place Overall) earned their spot on the state team with fellow Five County club member Randy Parker (8th Place Overall) earning an alternate position.
State team members will represent North Carolina in group competition against other southern states in the spring of 2012. These individuals can win their share of the $35,000 first place prize and the opportunity to advance to additional B.A.S.S. national events. Competition will take place in Florida for three consecutive days and live daily coverage will be streamed online.
