The 2010 Western Region Championship was held September 18th and 19th 2010 on beautiful Lake James in Marion NC. Fifty-two competitors from all over the State braved Lake James as it is known for its toughness on bass fishermen in the month of September. The event was tough as expected but Alan Foster of the Cherryville Bassmasters figured something out. Alan managed a limit of bass each day with a total weight of 16.17 pounds. He was not only crowned the 2010 western region Champion, but has now qualified to be part of the 2011 NC BASS Federation Nation state team. Six other competitors also qualified and they are as follows: Chris Richey (14.31lbs) of Casual Casters, Brian Anderson (13.76lbs) of Cherryville Bassmasters, Jody Wright (13.29lbs) of the Jaw Breakers, Jeff Hager (12.23lbs) of Alexis Bassmasters, Jerry Craig (9.79lbs) Riverview Bassmasters and Tommy Chapman (9.75lbs) of Cherryville Bassmasters.
